The terroir of our Fleurie is made up of 6 hectares of parcels in a single block around the château. What they have in common is that they are all on very old pink granite bedrock with a very fine grain that gives the wine a great deal of subtlety. This Fleurie is characterised by its elegance and finesse. Very well-balanced, its silky tannic structure is full of finesse and its length is endless. A wine with class and grace. This wine is unique, it belongs here.

Fleurie 2020

The Château des Bachelards vineyard was created by the Benedictine monks of Cluny around 1100. Today, it extends over 12 hectares, all of which are farmed organically and biodynamically, in keeping with the monastic heritage. The absence of chemicals in the soil for the last 15 years and the use of biodynamic practices allow the terroirs to express themselves fully in the wines of Les Bachelards. The very old Gamay vines, the indigenous grape variety and the only red grape variety grown at Château des Bachelards, thrive wonderfully on our acidic, more or less weathered granite soils.

RECOGNITION :

Stuart Pigott for James Suckling: 97/100 "Tasting this astonishing Fleurie is like watching the shadows flicker on a warm summer's day with a gentle breeze. The delicate interplay of dark (structure) and light (red fruit and floral aromas) on the nose and in the extremely concentrated palate is fascinating, with an astonishing combination of finesse and density. A very long finish where the fine tannins and mineral acidity are tightly interwoven, like long braided hair."
