The Fleurie 2021 du Château des Bachelards is a veritable ode to elegance and delicacy, the fruit of an exceptional terroir and ancestral know-how. Made from very old Gamay vines, the native grape variety emblematic of the Beaujolais region, this wine embodies the history and excellence of Château des Bachelards.

A MONASTIC HERITAGE

Château des Bachelards traces its origins back to the heart of the Middle Ages, founded by the Benedictine monks of Cluny around the year 1100. Today, this exceptional vineyard extends over 12 hectares, all of which are farmed organically and biodynamically, practices that honour this monastic heritage and deeply respect nature.

No chemicals have been used on the soils for 15 years, allowing microbial life to flourish and the terroir to express itself fully. The acidic, slightly weathered pink granite soils are ideal for the Gamay grape, which flourishes here with elegance.

TERROIR AND APPELLATION

The Fleurie 2021 comes from 6 hectares of parcels in a single block surrounding the château. These very fine-grained pink granite soils give the wine a unique subtlety and depth. The wine proudly bears the appellation Fleurie PDOThis region is renowned for producing wines of great finesse and unrivalled elegance.

EXEMPLARY WINEGROWING

The vineyard is certified organic by Alpes Contrôles FR-BIO-15 and biodynamic by Demeter and BiodyvinThis guarantees practices that respect the environment and the living world.

The vines, planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare, are the result of massal selections, ensuring exceptional grape quality. Practices such as agroforestry and plant cover encourage biodiversity and soil conservation. The grapes are harvested by hand, allowing us to meticulously select the fruit at optimum ripeness. With yields limited to 30 hl/ha, each bunch expresses the intensity and purity of the terroir.

CAREFUL WINEMAKING

The vinification of Fleurie 2021 follows rigorous principles to respect the fruit and the identity of the terroir. The grapes are received by gravity, preserving their integrity, then gently destemmed. Fermentation, which is carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts, takes place in raw concrete vats, without recourse to carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration, techniques which could alter the wine's natural expression.

An extended maceration lasting 28 days gently extracts the aromas and tannins. The wine is then matured for 22 months in foudres and demi-muids, providing structure, finesse and a silky texture while retaining exceptional freshness.

TASTING NOTES

The Fleurie 2021 is distinguished by its brilliant garnet-red colour, seductive at first sight. The nose reveals a complex floral bouquet, dominated by peony and violet, accompanied by subtle hints of spice.

On the palate, this wine offers a satiny texture and a perfectly balanced structure. The fine tannins add a velvety touch, while the vibrant freshness enhances its brilliance. The finish, marked by peppery notes and striking purity, is a testament to its grace and depth.

FOOD & WINE

The Fleurie 2021 is an ideal partner for refined, creative dishes. It will enhance medallions of monkfish with lime and thyme, accompanied by oven-baked tomatoes, or a vegetable tian with Provençal herbs.

In winter, it goes perfectly with pike quenelles or a beef tartare au couteau with capers and a twist of pepper mill. Its versatility and finesse make it an ideal choice for moments of sharing and conviviality.

A UNIQUE WINE

This Fleurie 2021 is much more than a wine: it is the living expression of a place steeped in history, a remarkable terroir and an unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity. It combines class and grace, with a silky structure and impressive length on the palate. A timeless wine, destined to charm discerning connoisseurs and light up the finest tables.

Fleurie 2021

Our Fleurie 2021 comes from the exceptional vineyards of the Château des BachelardsThe estate itself was created by the Benedictine monks of Cluny around 1100. Today, it extends over 12 hectares, all of which are farmed organically and biodynamically, in keeping with the monastic heritage. The absence of chemicals in the soil for the last 15 years and the use of biodynamic practices allow the terroirs to express themselves fully in the wines of Les Bachelards. The very old Gamay vines, the indigenous grape variety and the only red grape variety grown at Château des Bachelards, thrive wonderfully on our acidic, more or less weathered granite soils.

The terroir of our Fleurie is made up of 6 hectares of parcels in a single block around the château. What they have in common is that they are all on very old pink granite bedrock with a very fine grain that gives the wine a great deal of subtlety. This Fleurie is characterised by its elegance and finesse. Very well-balanced, its silky tannic structure is full of finesse and its length is endless. A wine with class and grace. This wine is unique, it belongs here.
