TERROIR AND APPELLATION :

La Petite Fleur 2022 comes from plots on the border of Fleurie, in the Beaujolais Villages appellation. These soils, composed of silty sand on a pink granite bedrock several million years old, give the wine a unique finesse and precision. This cuvée bears the appellation PGI Comtés RhodaniensThis is a wine of singular character in the range of Beaujolais wines.

DEGREE OF ALCOHOL: 13,5 %

TYPE: 100 % Gamay

VITICULTURE :

The vines are cultivated with passion and rigour. Certified organic and biodynamic practices help to preserve the natural balance of the soil and vines. The plots are planted at a high density of 10,000 vines per hectare, giving exceptionally concentrated grapes.

Agroforestry and plant cover contribute to the richness of the biotope, encouraging biodiversity and keeping the soil alive. The old vines, which come from massal selections, are harvested by hand when the berries reach optimum ripeness. The bunches are placed in 16 kg crates, preserving their quality and preventing the fruit from being crushed. With yields limited to around 30 hectolitres per hectare, each bunch contributes to a wine of rare intensity.

VINIFICATION AND AGEING :

Vinification is designed to respect the fruit and the terroir. The grapes are collected by gravity, avoiding any mechanical stress. After gentle de-stemming, the grapes are fermented in untreated concrete vats with indigenous yeasts only, guaranteeing the authentic expression of the Gamay grape.

Contrary to common practice in the region, no carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration is carried out. After 28 days' maceration, the wine is matured for 10 months in concrete vats. This method preserves the fresh, fruity character of the cuvée, while giving it remarkable drinkability.

TASTING NOTES :

Petite Fleur 2022 is immediately captivating with its dense, brilliant garnet-red colour. On the nose, the aromas are both intense and elegant: spicy notes of black pepper and cinnamon give way, after aeration, to delicate floral nuances such as peony and violet.

On the palate, the wine is dense and well-structured, with good body on the mid-palate. The silky, perfectly integrated tannins add a velvety texture that amplifies its charm. The long, lingering finish is marked by peppery notes and a subtle freshness that invites a second tasting.

FOOD AND WINE PAIRING :

Petite Fleur 2022 is the ideal companion for moments of sharing and conviviality. This wine goes perfectly with tender meat enhanced by a twist of the pepper mill, such as duck breast or pork filet mignon. It will also sublimate more original dishes, such as crispy red mullet served with a pan of seasonal vegetables delicately flavoured with smoked paprika.

This versatile wine can also accompany simpler meals, such as a plate of fine charcuterie or lightly matured soft cheeses.
